  • 5 star ratingCame to the area for the weekend and wanted to stay somewhere that wasn't your typical chain hotel. I can not begin to say how amazing this place was! My first bed and breakfast experience and I have to say it has totally changed me. John and Kerstin were wonderful and so accommodating. They really put this trip over the top. We stayed in room 3 and the view was beautiful! I became a little worried about the train but it never went by or woke us up. It was quiet and we felt like the only ones there! Make sure you have a piece of quiche in the morning with your coffee and enjoy the wonderful front porch. Mica (Inn dog) will be happy to greet you and shake paws. Amazing experience and we will definitely come back when we are in the area! Thank you John and Kerstin!

5 star ratingAmazing!! Our stay was wonderful! The house was beautiful and John and Kerstin were very gracious hosts. The view from our window overlooked the town, the river and the mountains. We had everything we needed and more and the shower stall was huge! We loved our stay there and would definitely stay there again. Thank you!!!

5 star ratingExceptional Property & Hosts We were late arriving but the Innkeepers/owners were graciously available at the late hour to greet us and be sure our needs were met. The town is very small (population under 900 ppl), the area felt safe and accessible to everything. Would definitely recommend the Marshall House Inn.

  • 5 star ratingWe loved our stay at the Marshall House Inn! Definitely will be back. Comfy bed, dreamy linen sheets, beautifully decorated. Breakfast options in the morning were plentiful and coffee (which was really good! And local!) offered starting at 630am. Walking distance to local town. Very nice owners and their pets greeted us when we arrived after a long drive, which was very much appreciated. Felt right at home.

5 star ratingMarshall House Inn had the comforts of home My family stayed at Marshall House Inn while on vacation. We had the two bedroom/1bath suite. We were greeted by both owners upon our arrival. They went out their way to ensure that we were comfortable. Breakfast was perfect! We loved the quiche! We even enjoyed meeting the house cat, Puss while we relaxed on the spansive porch. He was friendly as well. Highly recommend Marshall House Inn. We will stay again! Thank you for your hospitality!

I spent four great nights at the Marshall House Inn while attending this year's Wild Goose Festival. My room was spacious and lovely, and the hospitality -- including breakfast -- was delightful. I would definitely recommend Marshall Inn as a relaxing, comfortable and appealing getaway location.

  • 5 star ratingExcellent Inn just outside Asheville, John (Innkeeper) was friendly, welcoming and helpful with local suggestions.  We stayed here to be close to a White Water Raft trip with NOC.  This was perfect!  The house is very nice and well kept.  The rooms were clean with lots of natural amenities and linens.  The continental breakfast was plenty to get you going for whatever adventures you have,  great coffee too!

My husband and I stayed here for two nights and had a relaxing and wonderful time. John and Kerstin have done an amazing job renovating this old building - it’s both modern and historic, beautiful and comfortable. We also delighted in the continental breakfast, a good alternative to the standard B&B breakfast situation for morning introverts.

Wonderful Stay in this perfectly appointed space! We loved our room, the relaxed vibe and sipping coffee on the porch. We'll be back... Thank you, Marshall House Inn!

  • 5 star ratingNot just a place to stop, it's now going to be a destination. I was traveling around NC four days before a planned family reunion. It was my first solo excursion without planned stays. I arrived in Marshall, NC planning on working on family genealogy at the Madison County Courthouse. I wasn't sure how much time I'd need in Marshall. At the end of day one I stumbled across The Marshall House Inn. It was so warm, comfortable, and inviting I sought out a second night there. The innkeepers, John & Kerstin, made me feel like a much loved family member that was expected; and not just someone who appeared at their doorstop. The rooms are incredibly large and well furnished. It was apparent the rooms were definitely not "thrown together". Each piece was selected for functionality that benefited both its purpose and esthetics. They were spot on with all the little extras. (Fresh native flowers in each room and in the common rooms.) A common area that had anything you could possibly require. (Reading material, games, throws, etc.) The views are incredible. (The very large windows open. It was wonderful to listen to the sounds of the French Broad river and the chimes on the courthouse clock throughout the night.) The bed was super comfortable. The bathroom, updated and very functional. (The shower pressure was incredible.) The backstory on The Marshall House Inn is definitely worth hearing. And a walk through the town of Marshall is a MUST. Plan on a leisurely exploration, you won't want to miss person or a shop. (Many are multiple generational owners. Make sure you stop and say hello to Ms. Cathy at the hardware.)

5 star ratingB&B with character The Marshall House Inn was quaint, charming, and full of character. The hosts are very accommodating and helpful. I felt right at home! The beds were so comfortable and our room was so quiet. The towels are large and soft. The self-serve breakfast was healthy and delicious. The view from the front porch was amazing! It was the perfect place to relax after a long day exploring the area. I would highly recommend this B&B to anyone visiting the Asheville area.

We really enjoyed our stay. Wonderful, quiet location with a great view. Very easy to get to Asheville, but a welcome break from the Big City. Hosts were very nice, and the house was amazing - nice blend of old and new. Very comfortable rooms, very good breakfast. Thank you! Chris and Tami Zenker
